Super Impose was, until passed by Octagonal, a one-time holder of the Australian stakesearning record. He won over $5m on the track, and was an immensely popular horse. His career was highlighted by his "mile" wins, in 1990 and 1991. He won both the Epsom and Doncaster Handicaps in both years, an incredible effort from the horse. The pinnacle of his career was winning the Cox Plate as an 8yo (when I was there watching my first Cox Plate), receiving a huge reception from a very appreciative crowd. He was trained by Lee Freedman, and ridden in his big race wins by jockeys such as Darren Beadman, Shane Dye and Greg Hall. His record also includes Group 1 wins in the Rawson Stakes, Chipping Norton Stakes twice. He was also second in the 1989 Melbourne Cup to Tawriffic.
