Schillaci was one of Australia's best sprinters of the 1990s. Trained by Lee Freedman and ridden by Damien Oliver, this wonderful grey horse captured the hearts of racegoers wherever he raced. At one of my first trips to the races photographing, he won the Moir Stakes, and the crowd cheered and cheered. He was the subject of the first good photograph I ever took, and will always have a special place with me.
