Road to Success emulated Redoute's Choice, when he completed the Veuve Cliquot and Blue Diamond Stakes. A late entry to the Blue Diamond, Road to Success, ridden by Jimmy Cassidy, stormed down the centre of the track to defeat the fillies Ponton Flyer (2nd) and Mannington (3rd - who started favourite, and was the previously unbeaten Danehill daughter of Marscay's Golden Slipper winning daughter Bint Marscay). A big strong looking colt, Road to Success was a late entry into the Golden Slipper, but the gamble did not pay off for his owners on this occasion, as the colt ran at the tail of the field. He had not started since the Blue Diamond Stakes win. I noted that the colt was for sale, in Monday 22 May Thoroughbred's section of the Australian.
