I've liked this filly for a long time, since I first saw her as an autumn 2yo. She's just beautiful, although apparently somewhat temperamental around the stable, her strapper told me she's inclined to kick whenever she gets a chance, I wonder if she aims like my own horse! Buggers! She had never won while I'd been there (I'd missed her first couple of wins as a 2yo), but she'd always been so honest, and running good races against the good horses. I had really liked her for the VRC Oaks, but it wasn't until she scored a narrow win in the G2 Kewney Stakes, a race run at Flemington which has been won by some very good fillies and mares over the years, including the mighty Sunline, Northwood Plume, Mannerism and Tristalove, Mapperly Heights, Deck the Halls, etc, that I actually got this lovely filly winning. Damien Oliver has ridden her in most of her starts, and he made a comment that made us all laugh at the presentation, when he said how wonderful it was personally that she'd broken through, and that he thought some people must have started to wonder if he had a share in the filly because he'd stuck with her for so long. I love to see loyalty like that! Unfortunately that was her only win, but she's such a nice game filly, I don't think that's the last win for her! |
