Kenwood Melody finished his spring 3yo campaign rated one of the leading 3yos of his year, and won the Group 1 Caulfield Guineas at only his 5 start, and his 3rd win in succession. He found the pace of Might and Power in the Cox Plate beyond him, finishing at the tail of the field, but is a good strong gelding, and is obviously quite tough. He defeated Laurie's Lottery twice, another very good horse in his own right. He is trained by Bill Mitchell, and was ridden by Shane Dye in the Guineas. Kenwood Melody is the first Australian bred Group 1 winner for his sire, the very impressive Nijinsky stallion, Royal Academy.
