Yet another Group 1 winner by champion sire Zabeel, Hill of Grace came across to Australia as a 3yo after running second in the New Zealand Derby.

She showed her ability straight away, by running a good race to finish 3rd to Pins in the Australian Guineas. She then scored an easy win in the Moonee Valley Oaks, before scoring a most impressive win in the Group 1 Ansett Australia Stakes at Rosehill on Slipper Day. Hill of Grace lined up next in the AJC Derby, but didn't fare brilliantly behind Fairway, although she probably wasn't helped by the slow early pace which turned the race into a sit and sprint. She looked as though she'd had enough when unplaced behind Coco Cobana in the AJC Australian Oaks, although she did have a very wide run the whole way.
