A lovely looking black entire, Ebony Grosve won the AJC Derby, and was narrowly second in another 2 Group 1s, the Spring Champion Stakes and the VRC Derby at 3 years. He then won the Hill Stakes, and Group 1 MacKinnon Stakes as a 4yo. He is a somewhat unpredictable horse, capable of putting on a brilliant display, but has also been responsible for some very disappointing runs. He was disappointing in both the Caulfield and Melbourne Cups, and was never sighted in the Japan Cup. He missed the entire autumn in 1998, and is due to return to racing this Spring. Shane Dye reported recently that the horse felt in fine shape. A beautiful looking horse.
