Dignity Dancer is another son of the all conquering Zabeel, and is indeed a promising young horse. He was bred by Mr Keith Biggs, of Doriemus fame, out of apparently "the worst mare" ever sent to Zabeel, in a favour from his friend Patrick Hogan of Cambridge Stud. Dignity Dancer, in his first preparation, won the Group 1 Spring Champion Stakes in very impressive fashion, beating subsequent VRC Derby winner Arena. His trainer Bill Mitchell then took the brave decision in spelling the horse, who he considered still immature.
Dignity Dancer next emerged in the autumn, in Melbourne, and proceeded to win the new Victorian "Australian Triple Crown", culminating in his second Group 1 win, the Australian Guineas. He then travelled to Melbourne, and recently (20 March) finished a very close second to yet another Zabeel gelding, Sky Heights, in the Group 1 Rosehill Guineas. He appearedto have trained off when 4th to the same horse in the AJC Derby on 3 April.
