Lord Ballina
| After proving himself one of New Zealand's leading WFA gallopers in recent years (as a dual Group 1 winner in his homeland), Cent Home finally (1) made it over to Australia, and (2) lived up to his promise in recording a tenacious win in the Group 2 St. George Stakes. A lovely looking near black horse, who I confess to not knowing a great deal about, he held off his fellow NZ'ers Giovana and Kaapstad Way. His next run was perhaps slightly disappointing, when he weakened out of the Australian Cup, which was won in brilliant fashion by probable rising star Northerly, however his connections are pushing on with his Australian campaign, and the horse's next start will see him take on popular Sydney champion Tie the Knot in the Group 1 Ranvet Stakes, over 2000m at Rosehill. I always like to see a quality horse come through, and after all the talk of how promising he was (I understand there have been difficulties with the horse), it was lovely to see him record the win below. It will be nice if he goes on with it in Sydney. |
