"A picture is worth a thousand words"
"Imagery is perhaps the most powerful communication tool available."
Both of the above phrases capture the essence of Bronwen's approach to her work, her her belief that producing visually exciting and high impact imagery is more important than adopting a conservative, perhaps 'safer', approach that captures a less exciting image. Put more simply, if you are not taking risks and prepared to make mistakes, your work will suffer creatively. This philosophy has lead to the production of visually exciting images that portray all that is great about horse racing.
Bronwen is recognised both in Australia and internationally as one of the finest freelance racing photographers to have taken up the profession. Her passion for the sport, and her intimate knowledge of horses contributes to the creation of truly mesmorising imagery. She has worked in the industry since the early 1990s, and her library is extensive, and has won widespread praise. Her ability to create imagery that is dynamic and individual is widely recognised, and her work is seen as innovative and daring.
She contributes photographs to some of the leading publications, and her images are used throughout the industry. She is the Official Photographer for the highly regarded Racing and Sports website, as well as a principal photographer for Racetrack Magazine and NZ Bloodhorse. She is the Australian image contributor for Timeform (UK) and the Racingfotos.com racing photo library, and has more recently forged a successful collaboration with another of Australia's leading photographers, Martin King.
Bronwen lives in Canberra with her partner Stuart and their two young children, a son Heath who was born in November 2001, and daughter Jessica who was born in May 2005. Bronwen continued to work up until the final weeks of both pregnancies, which many said was a testament to both her tenacity and her commitment to the sport. Bronwen owns a warmblood mare, called Freelance, and is currently training the mare in the classical art of Dressage.
